The Revised Spectranet Data Plans

Of all the mobile data plans in Nigeria, Spectranet data plans are one of the most complete and comprehensive. Spectranet offers six classes of data plans: Unified Value Plans, Mega Values Plans, Always on Plans, Night Plans, Data Boosters-Top Ups and Weekly Plan.

Spectranet data plan was recently revised in line with the increase in value-added tax from 5% to 7.5% on February 1, 2020.

Spectranet Unified Value Plan

The Unified Value Plans are monthly data plans which offer a lot of data plus extra bonuses. The data values range from 8GB to 30GB. The main data, which can be used anytime, comprises 50% of the data value while the remaining 50% is the night bonus.

There are five data plans under the unified data plan as shown in the figure below.

The data plans under this category are the most affordable of Spectranet monthly data plans. For instance, while the 8GB plan goes for N3,070, the 10GB plan costs N3580. If you want to save more, you can go for higher-value plans like the 14GB plan at N5,115, 24GB plan at N6,140 and the 30GB plan at N7,165.

Mega Value Plans

Spectranet offers three plans under the Mega Value package. These are suitable plans for subscribers who want a lot of data at affordable prices. Although Mega Value Plans are costlier than Unified Value Plans, they come with an additional benefit of free unlimited night browsing.

The cheapest Mega Value plan – the 25GB plan – costs N10,235. The 40GB Mega Value costs N12,795 and if you want an even bigger data, the 60GB plan, which costs N15,355, could be the best option for you. Note that each of these plans expires after one month.

Always-On Plans

Always-On plans are just like other Spectranet data plans with one major difference: you can still browse when your data finishes but at a throttled speed of 512 kbps.

This is the data plan for heavy internet users. The data values range from 50GB to 300GB and most of the plans include free unlimited night browsing.

The figure below shows the data plans under this package.

Spectranet Data: Night Plans

For most networks in Nigeria, night plans are a lot cheaper than the normal plans. While this is also true for Spectranet, the difference is not well pronounced.

Spectranet has 2-night plans: the 20GB unified value nite at N7,676 and the 40GB unified value nite at N11,260. These plans are valid for a month and are usable from 7 pm to 7 am daily.

Top-ups for Spectranet Data Plans

Most heavy data users usually exhaust their data before the validity period expires but Spectranet provides a way to boost your data if you find yourself in such a situation. You can choose any of Spectranet’s five data boosters, namely: 1GB, 2GB, 5GB, and 10GB.

These data boosters are very affordable. For instance, while the 1GB booster costs N500, the 2GB booster goes for N1000. See the figure below for other top-up options. Furthermore, the data boosters are all valid as per the base plan.

Spectranet Weekly Data Plan

Spectranet has only one weekly data plan. At N4,000 per week, the 15GB data plan is costly, especially when compared to other networks in Nigeria. Of the 15GB, 6GB is available in the main data account and the remaining 9GB is a bonus data.

In conclusion, although they offer good values, Spectranet data plans are relatively costly when compared to other networks in Nigeria. However, they do offer a lot of benefits such as free unlimited night browsing between 1 am and 7 am, night plans with 24-hour access on public holidays and weekends, and other interesting bonuses.
