Itel S16, S16 Pro, and S16 Pro 4G specifications and pricing
Itel Mobile has unveiled a new smartphone model which are of three variants. The Itel S16, S16 Pro, and S16 Pro 4G are all low-budget devices which were on display during its official launch into the Nigerian market recently.
The Itel S16 variant packs a 1GB RAM memory while the Itel S16 Pro and its corresponding Pro 4G version is rather served with a 2GB of RAM.
The “S” series of the itel brand according to the phonemaker is made for better photographic command, and the latest models in the series expectedly make this even more apparent. For the regular model, the triple rear camera has an 8MP shooter as its main lens. The pro versions meanwhile pack an improved 13MP main lens at the rear.
Both devices supports facial recognition and are both powered by a 4000mAh non-removable battery. Detailed description of the three models are as follows:
Display
All versions of the S16 are made of IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen rather than AMOLED, and this makes for the acute reduction in their prices.
The 6.5 Inch (for the S16) & the 6.6 inch (for the S16 pro) wide display is covered with a scratch-resistant glass all making for the device’s 81.2% screen to the body ratio.
Like most modern devices, the S16 comes with a waterdrop display, implying that there’s a water-drop engravement which sites the selfie camera. For the S16 pro versions, the water-drop display is replaced by a dot-notch full display.
In addition, according to the phonemaker, a slight curvature at the edge of the glass display makes the screen more exquisite.

Itel S16, S16 Pro, and S16 Pro 4G — Verdict
The Itel smartphone models always come cheap, although they are usually of features much low-key. Nevertheless, these devices by virtue of the cheap pricing attract many in the Nigeria market. The reason for this couldn’t be distant from the people’s low purchasing power.
The specifications of the smartphones honestly couldn’t compare favourable with contemporaries, however, the devices are good buys for the price.
Pros:
- Fair battery specifications — 4,000mAh
- It’s a pocket-friendly device
Cons:
- There is no side-placed fingerprint sensor — Newer brands are resorting to side and optical fingerprint sensors.
- No USB type-c
- No reverse charging
- The camera specifications are also relatively poor.
